Brainloop thriving after record 4th quarter and successful financial year
Boston, Massachusetts and Munich, Germany. February 19, 2009 - Brainloop, a leading provider of software solutions for the secure management of confidential documents, today announced a successful and profitable 2008 concluded by an excellent fourth quarter, the best in the company's history. Brainloop has recently expanded its customer roster by adding two of the top 10 US biotechnology companies, who are using Brainloop's virtual data room to manage technology licensing deals. Additional new customer wins include manufacturers, online media and renewable energy developers. These customers use the data room to securely share, edit and store confidential documents in a variety of business processes.
Companies are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of secure, traceable document sharing and storage, known as document compliance management. Increasing demands for collaboration with external partners, combined with the risk of intentional or unintentional data leakage, are driving the need for secure online work spaces in which globally dispersed teams can work on documents efficiently while ensuring their content remains confidential. Many firms are also under pressure from external sources, as legal requirements and regulatory compliance touches upon key processes throughout the enterprise.
Brainloop's biotechnology clients are using the Brainloop data room to manage the entire licensing transaction and alliance lifecycle. During the review and licensing process, the data room serves as a secure document repository, to which the clients can invite potential licensees and monitor all access to the documents. Agreements are negotiated and finalized in the data room, which then serves as the platform for post-licensing collaboration on clinical testing and regulatory filing. Other new clients are using Brainloop's data room to manage their RFI process, enable secure vendor collaboration, manage boardroom communications, and provide a company-wide secure repository for confidential documents.
'With cross-border company acquisitions and private equity buyouts, our web-based data safe is rapidly becoming a standard tool to support the due diligence process,' comments Peter Weger, CEO of Brainloop. 'This is especially true in the very early stages of a merger. The data safe is a real time-saver for collecting and working on extremely confidential documents.' The Brainloop dataroom is also being used increasingly by boards of directors and executives to make their work processes more efficient.
'Among our customers, we're seeing growing popularity of the Brainloop data room's Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) version, regardless of the company size,' explains Mr. Weger. 'This web-based repository is ideal for projects initiated at short notice, especially those under significant time pressure and with stringent requirements governing how confidential documents are shared. Our customers also use the subscription model on a long-term basis as a secure hub for internal and external document sharing.'
Brainloop is expecting its impressive growth rates to continue in 2009 due to the data room's key advantages. These include its adaptability to different needs; its reliable operation and maintenance; and tamper-proof documenting of the information flow. The software's end-to-end security architecture - including operator shielding on the server and persistent information protection at desktop level - enables it to be used for the most critical applications.
