High-Tech Gründerfonds deploys Brainloop Dataroom for secure document exchange

Munich, December 6th, 2006 - High-Tech Gründerfonds securely exchanges confidential documents and meeting minutes in Brainloop's virtual dataroom. The organisation is a joint initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, the multinationals BASF, Deutsche Telekom and Siemens, and the KfW-Bankengruppe. The web-based Secure Dataroom enables High-Tech Gründerfonds to communicate with their committees, portfolio companies and potential investments in a highly secure and documented way. All participants can access their documents and may view tasks and milestones at any time and worldwide.

Brainloop Secure Dataroom delivers a secure communication platform that ensures only authorized participants can access their information. Encrypted transmission and strong authentication technology protects confidential documents. High-Tech Gründerfonds benefits from streamlining business processes by integrating their currently 38 portfolio companies in one repository that simplifies reporting and document distribution. Incoming reports are deposited directly into the dataroom and can be accessed by the portfolio company and the respective portfolio manager, replacing insecure transmission by e-mail attachments.

Dr. Alexander von Frankenberg, Managing Director of High-Tech Gründerfonds, explains: "Brainloop Secure Dataroom helps us to exchange confidential documents with existing portfolio companies. Additionally, it greatly simplifies due diligence with potential investments and supports contract negotiations. On average, we work on 15 transactions in parallel, involving own employees but also externals such as lawyers. Secure Dataroom is exactly what we need to securely and efficiently complete due diligence and to exchange information between our portfolio managers and consultants."

Encrypted storage is an integral component of Brainloop Secure Dataroom's end-to-end security architecture. Dataroom contents are secured with a 128-bit encryption during transmission and, additionally, with a 256-bit key while at rest. Brainloop's strong two-factor-authentication technology provides extended protection with smart cards or mobile phones.

Brainloop Secure Dataroom helps High-Tech Gründerfonds not only to secure its confidential communication but also to record and document the entire flow of information in the integrated audit trail. When due diligence or a contract negotiation is completed all content including audit trail are archived to CD-ROM. Also future requirements like embedding of a watermark are covered by Secure Dataroom.

High-Tech Gründerfonds uses Brainloop Secure Dataroom as an on-demand ASP service, hosted on infrastructure of T-Systems, a Deutsche Telekom company.
