But the same tools that made collaboration so effective also wreaked havoc on the security and control over information distribution that companies relied on.
Jack Van Arsdale is the Vice President of Legal for Diligent Corporation. Jack has been with Diligent since 2011 and has helped us manage our rapid growth and international expansion. He also assisted with our acquisition of Thomson Reuters’ BoardLink business and our sale to Insight Venture Partners.
Prior to joining Diligent, Jack was in private practice, with the majority of his time spent advising an international investor relations firm. Jack received his J.D. with a concentration in Corporate Law from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his A.B. from Cornell University with a double major in English and Economics.
Brian is the Senior Vice President of Finance and Corporate Development at Diligent Corporation. Before joining Diligent, Brian spent 15 years in financial leadership positions at BoardEffect and Blackboard, helping to grow and scale both organizations from early stage companies to high-performing global SaaS companies.
Prior to that, Brian spent over 10 years working in various Finance and Accounting roles in the telecommunications industry working for MCI which was acquired by Verizon. During his career, Brian has played a significant role in more than 25 successful mergers and acquisitions in the SaaS industry. Brian graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VA Tech) with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Virginia.
Liam Healy serves as the SVP & Managing Director of EMEA for Diligent Corporation. Liam joined Diligent with over 10 years of experience building and growing commercial operations and revenue teams within SaaS-based businesses.
Most recently, Liam provided crucial strategic leadership to position BoardEffect for long-term growth and the company’s successful integration into Diligent‘s Modern Governance solutions suite. Prior to BoardEffect, Liam served in numerous commercial leadership roles within communications technology provider Cision Ltd. and CEB (now Gartner) working closely with Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 organizations. Liam holds a BA in communications from Towson University and resides in London, UK with his wife and daughter.
Deutschmann held management positions in Sales, Business Development and Services at Compaq, Netscape and Sequent Computer Systems. He also founded his own company, Mybau. Deutschmann, who had been a member of Brainloop’s supervisory board from 2001 until 2015, was previously CEO of Update Software AG, a publicly-listed CRM provider.
As CEO of Brainloop, Thomas Deutschmann is responsible for defining and implementing the company’s business strategy. He will also be tasked with ensuring that the firm achieves its operational goals.
Prior to joining Brainloop in 2017, he was CTO of MACH AG, a software and consulting company specialising in ERP and ECM. Schmidt previously also worked for BOND GmbH & Co KG (now OCLC), ChipVision Design Systems AG and Kuratorium OFFIS e.V.
As Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Eike Schmidt heads up product management and software development. He also manages service, which includes the support and operations areas.
Dr. Ulf Gartzke

As CEO of Brainloop, Dr. Ulf Gartzke is responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s corporate strategy. Dr. Gartzke, who holds a PhD in International Relations with a focus on transatlantic business and technology from the London School of Economics, has many years of international management experience. After working for the World Bank in Paris and the World Economic Forum in Geneva, he was Director of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation in Washington, DC for almost 10 years. Dr. Gartzke is the Managing Partner of the management consultancy Spitzberg Partners, headquartered in New York, a position he has held since 2013 and continues to hold.

Dr. Eike Schmidt holds a doctorate in computer science and has many years’ experience in the management of midsized software companies. Chief Commercial Officer
Arne Petersen heads up sales and marketing in his role as Brainloop’s CCO. Prior to joining Brainloop, he was Senior Sales Director at Oracle for its western European web analytics business. Arne brings over 20 years’ experience in sales and marketing management positions, including as managing director of the German operations of Macrovision and Avid Technology. He was also a member of the board at Blue Order Solutions AG. He studied business administration in Germany and the US and holds a master’s degree in international management as well as an MBA in marketing.
